Marijuana, or cannabis, as it is more appropriately called, has been part of humanity’s medicine chest for almost as long as history has been recorded. For more about the history and science of medical cannabis, visit the national NORML medical marijuana website.

The state of Montana has a medical marijuana program, which you can read about on the state’s marijuana website.

In 2011, the Montana legislature repealed and reinvented the program, and the Montana Cannabis Industry Association is fighting the changes.

    Dear Editor: 4/4/2013

I was to be seen yesterday at the Rocky Mountain Medical Clinic at St. James Hospital.
She was a new female P.A.C. We sat down and I began to answer her questions. However, when she asked if I used recreational drugs, I immediately felt the need to inform her that I occasionally use marijuana for pain, as needed. I’m not a heavy pot smoker. I would like to get off all medication. Blood pressure meds as well. But today, I would be glad to get a cortisone shot in my back for pain, as well as the female stuff. I explained to her that I have stopped all of the pain medication I was on, and listed them, Morphine, Oxy, Norco, Fentynal etc.

She refused to see me as a patient. I asked why that would be of concern to her when all I wanted was a pap smear and perhaps a cortisone shot in my spine. She then left the room to consult with the physicians. The result was the same.

I was being “refused” treatment because of “the marijuana”. That’s how she said it.

They also charged Medicare for the visit and I will be billed for the remaining.
Quite a good sum I might add for NOT being treated.

So ladies, be careful what you say to your OBGYN. Marijuana obviously affects your vagina!
